RenMoney aimed to unlock the potential of their data assets to gain deeper insights into their operations, customer behaviors, and market trends. Our team collaborated closely to streamline data transfer processes, optimize operational efficiency, and improve overall performance.
Our challenge was twofold: the primary problem was the data transfer process, which included database copy and recovery operations among different environments and servers. Moreover, the client was facing performance issues as various processes that had been created differently were sluggish. The client had difficulties empowering the database to perform its features reliably and punctually. We were tasked with unlocking the client's ability to conduct its day-to-day business without running into operational roadblocks. Our client wanted to improve their database copy and restore process in various environments. Primary concerns revolved around the data transfer between servers in the same environment and across different environments such as production, development, and quality assurance. The existing method involved a third-party solution, which was not up to par. A snail-paced process, it was acting as a roadblock in the development cycle. The need of the hour was a robust, agile solution.
The project started with clearly defined requirements and expectations from the client side. We first implemented a manual process for duplicating databases, which offered an improvement over the third-party solution initially used. This hands-on approach allowed us to address the first part of our challenge: optimizing data migrations and data copy procedures between environments. One of the activities was rewriting processes to improve system performance. As each day revealed more tasks that didn't complete in time or didn't run at all, we refined our approach to the mission: rewriting the process manually one by one with diligence.
The project journey encompassed data collection, analysis, visualization, and interpretation. Our data analysts employed a combination of tools, techniques, and domain expertise to deliver actionable insights that aligned with RenMoney's objectives.
Measured in terms of performance improvement and execution time, the technical metrics revealed the project's success — one of the primary outcomes was the 30% reduction in execution time. A more efficient system also allowed for potential cost savings as already after optimization, we could use the same environment for a while without investing more into new computing power. Our approach helped the client unlock their feature sets, mitigating day-to-day operational issues. We bridged the gap between their technical backend and their frontend, improving the ability to conduct daily business. The boosted data copying process meant that the development team could continually work with fresh databases. This reduced lag in the development process, enabling faster delivery of features, leading to potential profit increments.
