Hilti needed help moving a server from an unsafe location to a machine server situated in Czechia. This key task was undertaken efficiently by our dedicated reporting department.
Our biggest challenge was adapting to the structural differences between the Russian and Czechian servers. The Russian server had a multitude of tables, while the Czechian server was more succinct, housing fewer tables. There were connection details from the old server that were obsolete on the new server and this discrepancy posed unique obstacles as we had to align the data that needed migration with the different server connection requirements. To achieve this, we regularly have meetings with the database creators to sync and gather the correct data.
We developed a well-rounded strategy that pays attention to every single one of Hilti's specific needs. Our strong knowledge in data migration came in handy as we suggested a sturdy solution that puts the best tools and methodologies at work, offering reliability and top-notch performance. Since our role in the project is largely based on migration, we are in charge of the transfer of all significant data and ensuring it functions correctly. We decided to integrate Azure and AWS cloud services, knowing that their combined strengths would establish a scalable and resilient framework. Our expertise in the DevOps work style enabled a smooth and ongoing deployment process. This was crucial in ensuring minimal disturbance during the transition phase. To reinforce the backend of the system, we opted for .NET and .NET Core technologies. This was a strategic decision we made to ensure the system's security while delivering high performance. We maintain an excellent relationship with the client by routinely holding meetings and open lines of communication with team members to discuss any challenges.
The execution phase involved meticulous planning, agile development methodologies, rigorous testing, and a phased deployment approach. Our collaborative efforts with Hilti's internal teams ensured that the migration process seamlessly aligned with their business objectives. Continuous communication and real-time monitoring were pivotal in addressing any unforeseen challenges and ensuring a successful data migration.
The successful migration of the server ensured consolidation of data in optimized server tables, resulting in efficient data retrieval processes. We estimate that the overall efficiency of the reporting department increased by 35% as a result of streamlined access to data.
